Tangled Feet's Summer of participation

As an integral part of our Take To The Streets season, Tangled Feet were joined by 10 young theatre-makers who came together for 12 days of intensive workshops and a 360 degree introduction to making devised/outdoor work. The young company visited five of the major outdoor festivals at which Tangled Feet were performing, seeing an incredible range of outdoor work as well as getting a good picture of behind-the-scenes touring.

Workshops included directing and devising with Artistic Director Nathan Curry, taking risks in performance lead by ensemble member Mario, a physical theatre workshop lead by ensemble members Leon and Suzy,
creating and maintaining rhythm in performance lead by ensemble member Tunji, an introduction to Meisner with ensemble member Fiona, verbatim techniques with Artistic Director Kat Joyce, dramatherapy techniques with Partipation manager Alex, and a workshop on finding and applying for funding  lead by our Development Manager and ensemble member Jonathan Ellicott.
The young company facilitated free Tangled Feet methodology workshops at The National Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith and Watford Palace, and were instrumental in developing, teaching and supporting the flash mob of performers who joined Tangled Feet for the finale ofAll That Is Solid Melts Into Air at the National Theatre.
“I loved doing morning workshops and then going festivals. It was really nice going to festivals that I hadn’t heard of and encountering types of street performance that I didn’t know much about previously.”
“(I enjoyed most) the sense of equality-no one is better or worse than anyone else, everyone learning from each other.” “Meeting new people, a friendly familiar safe and supportive environment.”
“My lasting memory will be performing at the National, gaining life-long skills and confidence in my teaching ability, and experiencing so many different types of workshops. And meeting some brilliant people and reconnecting with Tangled Feet!”
“Being part of the ensemble of All that is Solid….That was a highlight not only of working with Tangled Feet but the summer!”
