The Cells
In collaboration with Theatre Venture
In June 2010 The Cells was created as an R&D work in progress performance
- a site specific piece of interactive and participatory theatre in the old
cells of Stratford Town Hall.
This free performance took the audience on a surreal journey from the courtyard
of the Stratford Town Hall and through the bowels of justice. Following a series
of questions posed to the audience on arrival groups were processed and ‘interrogated’
in an atmospheric and surreal environment. Themes of immigration, bureaucracy
and justice were analysed. A group of youth and community practitioners also
performed within the piece.
